The Department of Physics was started in the academic year 2014-2015. The Master's degree program was introduced in 2016-2017. UG and PG programs are affiliated with Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. The department also offers allied courses for first-year undergraduate students from other branches. It currently has 5 teaching staff and 103 students.
The department has highly qualified and dedicated faculty members actively involved in research activities. Areas of interest include nanotechnology, crystal growth, and thin films. Seminars and conferences are organized annually.
• Demonstrate proficiency in fundamental physical concepts.
• Apply classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and thermal physics to analyze phenomena.
• Acquire laboratory skills to take measurements and draw valid conclusions.
The department has an extensive library to support academic and research needs.
The laboratory serves both undergraduate and postgraduate students. It supports experiments in optics, general physics, electronics, microprocessor, and C-programming. It is also used for material synthesis.
